SUMMARY:Mini Assistant Farmer Camp
DESCRIPTION:Fabulous Duck Day\nNew! To expand our summer camp offerings we have added this mini-camp experience for children 8-12! \nAssistant Farmers (ages 8-12) will spend 3 days on the farm\, learning about the different animals and plants living here. We’ll do morning ‘chores’ each day and then pick a particular animal (like a lamb\, goat\, chicken or rabbit) to learn more about and do an activity centered around. Activities might include working with your individual sheep over the course of the week\, learning how to milk a goat\, experience how much fun ducks are and more. We’ll explore the natural habitats at Henny Penny and embrace all the bounty that Mother Nature has to offer. Children will also work on a mini-craft project combining elements of the farm (branches\, wool\, plants and more) that they will bring home at the end of the week.  Children round out their day working on their daily personal farmer log where they will put in photos and descriptions from their day.  It will promote further interesting conversations and exploration after camp finishes. \nPlease note camp runs from August 4-6 9am-2pm each day. The $195 registration is for the entire session (not just one day). \nPlease also note that while the registration fee is not refundable you may transfer it to another child (that fits in the age group selected) once you notify us of the change. \nWhen you complete your purchase please let us know the name and age of your child.  We will follow up with registration papers.

SUMMARY:Assistant Farmer After School Program
DESCRIPTION:We had such positive feedback from our summer camp program that we have decided to offer a 6 week after-school program for kids to continue to learn about the on-going life at a livestock farm. This 1-hr program will run from 4:30-5:30 on Mondays\, rain or shine. We will do farm chores\, health checks\, etc on our animals. We will also do a little autumn gardening and continue to develop our keen observation skills\, looking at our habitat\, our animals and plants. Over the course of 6 weeks we will see how things shift with the changing seasons on the farm. \n  \nThis program will be limited to just 6 kids in order to allow a true\, hands-on experience that is also COVID-safe for the kids and the animals. We will be outdoors for chores but ask kids to bring a bandana or buff or similar so that they could pull it up over their face if we go in to scoop up feeds more indoors.   \nFor kids age 8-12. Upon signing up you will receive papers to fill out with further details about your child.

SUMMARY:Assistant Farmer Camp
DESCRIPTION:  \n2/2/20 SOLD OUT \nAssistant Farmers (ages 8-12) will spend mornings on the farm\, learning about the different animals and plants living here. Children will also work on a craft project combining elements of the farm (branches\, wool\, plants and more) that they will bring home at the end of the week. \nThis year we are extending our camp hours for children to work on their daily personal farmer log where they will put in photos and descriptions from their day.  It will promote further interesting conversations and exploration after camp finishes. \nPlease note camp runs from July 13-16 9am-2pm each day. Please note this session is a 4-day camp. The $260 registration is for the group of four days (not just one day). \nPlease also note that while the registration fee is not refundable you may transfer it to another child (that fits in the age group selected) once you notify us of the change. \nWhen you complete your purchase please let us know the name and age of your child.  We will follow up with registration papers.

SUMMARY:Spring Break Camp
DESCRIPTION:Our Spring Break camp is a rare opportunity for older children (Grades 8 through 12) to spend a week as a working member on our farm.  Children will have daily hands-on experience with morning chores and learn about all aspects of running a farm from record-keeping to animal health care.  It is a combination of camp and internship\, where children are guided through tasks just like we do with interns.  Campers are encouraged to explore our wealth of agricultural textbooks from soil science to animal husbandry and to spend time observing and learning about our animals and plants.  This time of year is especially fun as all of our lambs will be born and we will have goat kids\, chicks and bunnies to work with and care for as well.  Campers will also get to spend time in our greenhouse and test out their green thumbs. \nCampers will learn about dairy goats\, have the opportunity to learn to milk and more.  Then during the week we will also learn how to make products from our farm including soap and cheese.  \nThis camp is great for children who are interested in environmental science\, animals\, ecology and agriculture. Camp runs from 9am-2pm April 6-10.  Because of the true hands-on nature of this camp\, and due to the abundance of young animals\, we keep this camp extra-small with only 5 spots available.

SUMMARY:Natural Indigo Dyeing and Shibori Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Come escape to the farm for a day of learning about creating a fermentation indigo vat for dyeing. We typically use it to dye our wool locks before they are spun into yarn but this day we are going to have fun with fabric and explore the world of Shibori and its infinite range of patterns. Shibori\, originally from Japan\, uses folding techniques (like origami) to create wonderful patterns. We will begin by learning about creating this living\, fermentation vat and how you can re-create it at home. Then we will start exploring with fabric. We will be supplying an array of fabric which can become scarves\, table throws and more. You may also choose to bring a top\, socks or other personal item if you wish (just email us for guidance). This is a really fun day of creativity\, surrounded by the hum of farm life. It doesn’t get much better than this! \nThis workshop is suitable for adults or teenagers. We will take a brief lunch break; light refreshments will be provided but you might want to bring a sandwich or other.

SUMMARY:Tween and Teen Mini Photo Shoots
DESCRIPTION:We are excited for the return of Janette James of Tall Angel Photography to the farm. But this time these mini photo shoots are for slightly older children and with older animals\, not babies! These sessions are a blast for the kids as they get to interact with the animals like we do on a daily basis. They’ll throw feed to the chickens\, wrangle up the lambs or maybe even feed the potbelly pig! Photo shoots are for up to two children and last 30-40 minutes.  \n \nThis is a ‘wellie boot’ photo shoot so expect more of an authentic\, rural edge to these photos but that doesn’t mean kids can’t rock this look with style.  Think twirly denim skirts or smart checked shirts and jeans. Ages 8 and up. This is a very unique opportunity not to be missed! Space is very limited so early booking is recommended. You will receive 4 high resolution digitally edited JPEGs as well as an 8×10″ print. \n \nCall (347) 306-1549 or email info@hennypennyfarmct.com for more information and to reserve a spot. \n
