Can you smell the sweetness?

July 14, 2015 //  by Henny Penny Farm

Sweet Peas
Sweet Peas in July

It takes four full months from sowing the seeds to prepping the soil to erecting the trellis to transplanting the seedlings to tying up the growing vines to harvesting the blooms until the plentiful bouquets of sweet peas start rolling in daily.  The fourth of July always marks the beginning of peak sweet pea blooming in our part of the country.  And it is a precious and sweet month of steady flowers that we enjoy from then on.  Once the heat of August rolls around the vines will just wither up and die one day but until then I look forward to coming out every morning and seeing what new blooms have erupted for picking that day.  Carpe diem!
