POULTRY TEAM MEMBER (LAGRANGEVILLE, NY LOCATION)
Job Description:
We are hiring for someone to feed and water chickens and turkeys. Generally the position will be 6 mornings per week but there is some flexibility and additional hours are available if suited to the successful candidate.
Responsibilities include:
- Feeding and watering all chickens and turkeys
- Moving the mobile poultry tractors daily
- Moving the associated electric fencing as needed for grazing practices
- Monitoring general bird health
- Monitoring poultry grazing pastures
- Cleaning brooders
- Caring for young chicks and poults
- Loading grain silos as needed (currently once per month or so); this entails emptying 1 tonn of 50lb feed bags into the top opening of an IBC tote
- Maintaining cleanliness of equipment
- Keeping all poultry equipment organized and creating and implementing some additional storage systems that are needed
The successful candidate will:
- Have prior experience with poultry
- Have keen observational skills
- Very good attention to detail
Must be comfortable driving a side-by-side/gator/golf cart.

FARM MARKET WORKER
We are looking for an enthusiastic, upbeat person to join our market team. This person will be in charge of our market booth or farm stand on Saturdays, either New Canaan, Ridgefield or Larchmont. There is an opportunity to run our Thursday Westport Farmers Market booth occasionally as well.
The ideal candidate is quick at absorbing information (learning a lot about our products and farm practices), is physically fit to set up & break down the market stand, and enjoys engaging with our customers while sharing their knowledge of our products.
There are opportunities to grow, both in responsibilities, days and hours, within this role as well.

Volunteer opportunities

By contributing time and talent, our volunteers help the farm and our educational programs grow. We attract a diverse and truly interesting group of people, united by their passion to learn about and help our natural habitats and our food system.
Internship opportunities

Interns learn about our food system, horticulture, as well as animal husbandry of sheep, goats, chickens (egg and meat), rabbits and honeybees. Small scale growing of both vegetable and cutting flowers, land stewardship and habitat maintenance are pivotal to all of the work that is done at Henny Penny Farm.
