FARM MANAGER (LAGRANGEVILLE)
This team member works closely with Whitney (the owner and co-manager) to manage our animals and farm and achieve our goals for each season.
The ideal candidate:
- Has previous experience with livestock (particularly small ruminants)
- Is accustomed to working on a farm and able to work in all kinds of weather
- Is strong enough to regularly lift 50lb feed bags (for filling grain totes), move chicken tractors or move sheep handling equipment
- Has experience operating tractors and towing implements (such as brush hog) and using forks
- Has a valid driving license and Is able to tow a 20’ stock trailer
- Has experience moving electric netting (a lot!)
- Has experience rotational/adaptively grazing
- Is open to new ideas, gets excited about grazing plans and is a keen observer (essential for good grazing and good stock management)
- Works well in a team and also works well on their own
- Has good communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Is comfortable using phone apps to input herd data and grazing data (we use Herd Boss and PastureMap)
- Experience using a grazing chart is a plus.
- Experience working with pigs is a plus as well.
- Experience/knowledge with/about wool is a plus.
The job varies with the season. A typical day in June might look like: morning chores (feeding and watering animals), setting up electric fencing for sheep, moving sheep, taking down previous netting, filling water tote and driving it out to a field for chickens or sheep, setting up fencing and handling equipment for working sheep the next day (it might be catching them to remove the ram in a breeding group, or setting up for running sheep to barn for shearing, etc)
The job is 5 days per week but from May through mid-September is the busiest time of year and 6 day weeks will be interspersed as needed. We lamb two times per year (spring and fall) plus some early winter lambs for the show flock. The flock is currently at about 80 brood ewes (and associated lambs) and we are still growing the flock. Chickens and turkeys are seasonal. Small numbers of Pigs are raised for most of the year as well.
This is a fantastic job for someone who loves to work with livestock and be out in nature, witnessing the fruits of their labor.
Weekly Hours range from 25 to a maxiumum of 40 depending on time of year.
Pay: $25/hr and $200 allowance twice per year for farm gear

FARM MARKET WORKERS (Ridgefield and Lagrangeville)
We are looking for enthusiastic, upbeat people to join our market team. This person will be in charge of our market booth on Saturdays, either New Canaan, Ridgefield or Larchmont or our farm stand in Lagrangeville on Sundays. There is opportunity to run our Thursday Westport Farmers Market booth occasionally as well.
The ideal candidate is quick at absorbing information (learning a lot about our products and farm practices), is physically fit to set up & break down the market stand, and enjoys engaging with our customers while sharing knowledge of our products.
There are opportunities to grow, both in responsibilities, days and hours, within this role as well. This job is ideally suited for someone that can pick up their market items at our farm in Ridgefield, CT on the way to their market destination or is local to the Lagrangeville Farm Stand.
Pay: $18/hr with threshold bonuses for each market

FARM CREW MEMBER (LAGRANGEVILLE, NY LOCATION) (year-round employment)
Job Description:
We are hiring for someone to join our farm crew. All farm members help with all aspects of animal husbandry for sheep, chickens, turkeys and pigs. Our sheep flock is about 150-200 head and we raise 18 pigs annually. All of our animal species are raised on pasture. Generally the position is 6 days per week during peak season, on average 30 hours per week. In the winter season work transitions to 5 days/week.
Responsibilities include:
- Moving the associated electric fencing as needed for grazing practices for all species
- Feeding and watering all chickens and turkeys
- Moving the mobile poultry tractors daily
- Monitoring general bird health
- Monitoring poultry grazing pastures
- Cleaning brooders
- Caring for young chicks and poults
- feeding and watering pigs
- Loading grain silos as needed; this entails emptying 1 tonn of 50lb feed bags into the top opening of an IBC tote
- Maintaining cleanliness of equipment
- general farm chores are also expected for all farm staff
- pay $20-22/hr depending on experience
The successful candidate will:
- Have prior working farm experience with poultry at a minimum and experience with other livestock is a plus (particularly sheep)
- experience driving (and maintaining) tractors is a plus as well
- Have keen observational skills
- Very good attention to detail
- a valid driving license and is comfortable driving a small pickup truck for trips to/from butcher

Internship opportunities

Interns learn about animal husbandry of sheep, chickens, pigs and turkeys and help with day to day farming activities. Interns also help with our environmental conservation projects as well as educational outreach. As a Tier 3 Certified Regenified Farm we work to continually improve our environmental stewardship as we feed our community and provide educational programming. Please note our internship is only being held at our 115-acre Lagrangeville, NY farm location in 2026.
