New lambs are arriving in quick succession and last night at 11pm all pens were filled up. So this morning Farmer Frank did some shuffling and some erecting of additional pens to prepare for the days ahead. It looks like many ewes are very close now.
Dorset 2013 has been on close watch for the last 3 weeks as she had a vaginal prolapse during pregnancy so we inserted a retainer and harness to keep everything inside while the lambs finished growing. She had the same condition 2 years ago (her first year lambing) with twins. So, we have been watching her closely and when she looked ready to lamb last night we put her in a lambing jug so that we could monitor progress throughout labor. Also the jugs are the cleanest places on the farm so if she prolapsed again during labor it would be a better environment for her.
At 11pm her mucus plug had come out so I set the alarm for 3am expecting she would have been done lambing by then or need assistance. I checked the cameras (the same ones you have links for!) and saw two lambs walking around (one actually climbing over her as she was laying down!).

So, seeing that she was lying down I couldn’t tell if she had prolapsed during labor or had a third lamb stuck so I went out to check her and mama and lambs were all doing great. She had cleaned them up nicely, fed them and now she was resting and they soon followed suit!

Progress

So pleased the birth was ok and her little ones are fine 🙂
